A journey rooted in tradition, built on bold flavors

Anjappar Chettinad Restaurant

Over 50 years ago Anjappar began as a local Chettinad restaurant in the Chennai area, currently they operate in 70 locations in both Indian and several countries around the world. Anjappar offers a well-rounded South Indian menu with special focus on the Chettinad style preparations.
Chettinad, in Tamil Nadu, is as much about its people as it is about its bold cuisine. Both are closely intertwined, shaped by history, environment, and a strong sense of culture. Chettinad cuisine is one of the most distinctive regional cuisines in India, known for its intensity, depth, and skillful use of spices. Dishes rely heavily on freshly ground blends featuring black pepper, fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and chilies. The flavors tend to be complex rather than just “spicy.”
Chettinad cuisine is known for its subtle aroma and rich heritage shaped by centuries of spice trade. Influenced by global exchanges from regions like Cochin, Penang, and the Straits of Hormuz, it blends South Indian staples such as coconut, rice, and legumes with distinctive spices like Tellicherry pepper, Ceylon cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and galangal. This menu highlights traditional Chettinad dishes for you to enjoy.
